Vintage Hat Box by Jen Waugh

Hi everyone and welcome to my first post for November.

We have free play this month so this means we get to make what we want using our Zeus and Zoe products. Marivic sent me a gorgeous hat box with my DT pack. I decided for my first project to alter it a bit. Being a lover of all things vintage, the images and embellishments from my pack were perfect.

I used the beautiful vintage, Love post card from my pack to embellish the side, I added some pearl and paper flowers to make it stand out. The little button is from my own stash and is Prima. I made some ribbon flowers, my first attempt and I was pleased with how they turned out.

The pretty fabric flowers were cream when they arrived in my pack. I wanted to make them blend into the image better, a quick spray with some mist anfd they turned out a pale pink. I added a hat pin that I made myself and a peacock feather.

I cut up my Dusty Attic and added it to the edges. They were sprayed with some mist first and I used gold Run n Buff to add some interest to small areas.

The doily and vintage brooch were also included in my DT pack. Aren't they beautiful?

I love this vintage image that was included in my pack.

Thanks for joining me, I hope that you liked my vintage hat box.   Check out the Zeus and Zoe Etsy shop to have a look through all Marivic's products. Would love to see what you create with them :-)

Until next time, Jen xxx

Altered Enamel Mug by Patricia Basson

Hello to everybody!

Today I want to showcase an altered Enamel Mug that I created for the Zeus and Zoe blog using products from Marivic Clifton's Etsy Shop...

I punched a piece of patterned paper to fit around the outside and inside of the mug.. Using the Purple pleated ribbon from my DT stash and a length of the left over from the crotchet Doily from my previous project, I gave the mug a little skirt.

I used some more of my Vintage Buttons and Butterfly elements as added interest.

From the package of papers and envelopes from Industrial Chic by Susan Lenart Kazmer, I used some envelopes, crumpled them and rubbed clear embossing ink on the creases. I used Stampendous Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel on it. I placed a few of the papers in the envelope and crammed it with my tiny crammer...

Also added a Stick Pin with a Butterfly ornament behind my Pansy Flower from my own stash.

I misted my paper with Mountain Lavender Gold  Starburst from Lindy's  and splattered Sea Mint Green and Tea Pot Purple on the paper. With texture paste I masked some Butterflies and embossed them with Mauve embossing powder from Lindy's Stampgang...Also added some purple half pearls on the punched flowers.

Some more of Marivic's vintage Buttons, and also a peek of the small crochet Doily placed behind my flower.

Please take some time to visit the Zeus and Zoe Etsy Shop for many Vintage products, or ask Marivic to assemble a tailor made kit for you!

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam,
And for a brief moment,
its glory and beauty belong to our world...
But then it flies again,
and though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

Shabby Chic Altered Dresser

 Good Morning crafting friends...Patricia Basson with you again...

This month we have a most gorgeous Inspiration Board at Zeus and Zoe filled with beautiful soft and elegant images! In keeping with the Shabby Chic colours of pink and cream, I took a toy dresser and transformed it into a elegant dresser ready to brighten up a Victorian Dolls House...

The frame is made from a Chipboard frame and some mirrored foil.

I sacrificed one of my large Dollies from my DT stash, cut it up and used various pieces on the dresser and still have much left for future projects.

The Vintage Locket, Button and Fish ornament are also from my DT Stash. All is available from the Zeus and Zoe Etsy shop.I also used one of the stick pins, thinking it looks like a vintage perfume bottle nestled between the flowers!
~~~
This is what the wooden dresser looked like before.
I painted a base coat of pink acrylic paint and when dried painted a crackle medium over it. After dying overnight it was painted with the cream paint. The crackle medium resulted it the cracks of the cream paint revealing the pink under coat!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my post...I hope I have inspired you to try your hand at the Inspiration Board as well...
So Magical...a Layout by Patricia Basson.
Hello to all of you...
It is once again my pleasure to share with you all a project created with delightful findings from the Zeus and Zoe Etsy shop. I would love to share with you a soft and elegant looking page done with some of the items from my DT stash! My starting point was the purple vintage card in the background, without giving my age away...who can still remember those embossed cards from our youth? I opened it up to create a background for my photo. I cut the bottom of the the left side cup and placed it at the bottom left corner as a holder for my Manor House Creation flowers.
I saw a most amazing project on Pinterest with rolled book pages and that inspired me to create this rolled effect.
This is a page that one will have to take and twist and turn to get the full effect of the embellishment...
I did a bit of stencilling with some Mica from Lindy's Stampgang in Oak Leaf Olive mixed with Acrylic Gloss and rubbed a little on my flowers as well. Added a vintage button and stick pin from the Esy Shop. I also used the packaging from Webster to die cut and as strips on the page.
The purple flower form Webster Pages Floral Bouquet went well with the ribbon trim. Some more buttons and stick pins used here as well...
Thank you for reading my post today...Please visit Marivic's Etsy Shop for any of the items that I have used on this page...Till next time
~Altered Candlestick~
Good Morning friends...
Patricia again with my second project for August. Our theme this month is Altered Vintage, and what could be more vintage than these enamel candlesticks from days gone by? I would love to say this one is a real antique...but it was just bought at a general store...Let's see if I can encourage you to buy one and alter it somewhat as well?
I prepared the candlestick by painting it with Gesso to prime it. I then painted several coats of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze onto it. I used the colours Sangria and Nori. From my DT stash I used the brown lace, stick pins, some buttons and flowers.
All the buttons were Gesso'd, misted with green, blue and a reddish spray and because they were looking quite dull, I decided to add some dimensional accent which then resulted in some pretty marbling effects!
This is an embellishment from Ruby Violet, given the same treatment as the buttons.
The stick pins and Butterflies are from my DT pack. They were embossed with  two toned embossing powders from Lindy's Stampgang, Hyacinth Blue Green and Gilded Burgundy Brass...The white Wire Flower and Peacock feather are from Webster's Pages Floral Bouquet. All of the stock is available from the Zeus And Zoe Etsy shop...
Thank you for having a visit with me today...Keep save till we chat again next month...
Mini Album - "This is Me" for the April Challenge
Hello Everyone
I hope that you had  a super weekend and that Monday is treating you kindly! Denise here today with a mini album that I created for the April Challenge  - Life as it is Now - and I am really excited to show you what I created.
The challenge this month is to create and journal a project about "life as it is now," the subject being "you as an individual."  This challenge is open to interpretation and you can add as much detail as you wish, and share whatever you wish to share about yourself. Hidden journaling for personal information is fine. There is one additional requirement for the challenge, and that is to incorporate the use of buttons into your creation.
This mini album is about Me, as I am now, in 2013, and is called "This is Me".  So one day, I will hopefully look back at this  little album and remember exactly what my life was like in this year.
It was actually quite easy to get my thoughts together for this project, as I had a pretty good idea what I wanted to journal and the points I wanted to highlight.
So firstly I wanted to have a photo of me, as I am now. Can you imagine me in 20 years time, looking back at this moment?
I also wanted to document what my life is all about and what is important to me.
Then I went on to document the things that I really enjoy and love! These are certainly the "stuff" of life!
I certainly had to have a picture of myself and my son in the album, as he is certainly the sunshine in my days! He has added so much joy and love to my life and is certainly one of the best things I have ever done! ;-)
Here is another picture of me and is adjacent to a big 42!! So that kinda tells you exactly where I am at! LOL!
So that is my "This is Me" album and I used some wonderful goodies from the Zeus and Zoe kit.
I loved the metal trinkets and rounds, the stick pins, the beautiful buttons and the wonderful laces and trims, the Prima Say it in Pearls, and so these were what I used throughout this album.
I was also fortunate to have some Glamour Dust from DecoArt and this was really fabulous to colour the papers and metal round with.  The Zeus and Zoe Etsy store can be found 'HERE'.. and you can obviously purchase these wonderful goodies there.
It would be so super if you could join us for this challenge and we really hope to see your entry soon!
Just a reminder as so the wonderful prizes you could win:
Our main sponsor for May is kind enough to send some extra trim for a random winner this month..
The random winner will get trims from May Arts.
40, It's Just A Number - April Challenge
Hello & Thanks so much for joining me today for an extra special layout!  Why is it extra special you ask, well because it's about me (heheheehe).  This month we have a REALLY fun challenge for you to play along with!!  We are challenging you to create a project with you front and center.  That's right, the theme is "Life As It Is Now" (for you).  So I hope you're up for the challenge because I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you better.  The only requirement you have is to mix some buttons into your design, easy peasy right!
Ah...but wait, there's more!!!!
To sweeten the deal, one lucky participant will be chosen by the design team and will win this fabulous prize pack sponsored by the Zeus and Zoe Esty Shop plus full bragging rights!!
Isn't that a sweet prize pack?!  (Sorry Macaroons not included, lol)  This generous kit includes:
a package of flowers, stick pins, buttons, ephemera items, a La Blanche Stamp, Washi tapes and a package of Magicals from Lindy Stamp Gang
AND
A random participant will also be chosen to win these beautiful ribbons from May Arts:
Okay so I know what your thinking, where is this extra special layout right?!  LOL, ready.........here it is!!
Tada!!  As you can tell, I'm having so much fun with this month's challenge (see you should join so you can have fun too, lol).  I rarely scrap about myself or even take pics of myself for that matter.  I always joke that my family is gonna look back and think I was never there.  That's the big problem with being the family paparazzo, right!  Well, for this layout I turned the camera over to my youngest son and had a mini photo shoot.  Luckily I found one that would work out of the gazillon he took, lol.
 I knew I wanted my focus to be on turning 40 because I reached my milestone birthday yesterday.  So that's the inspiration for my title and I wanted the layout to reflect my very favorite design elements and colors.  So with that in mind, I began working on my design.
My background paper is called Cupids Arrow from Kaisercraft's Sweet Nothings Collection and I added texture with molding paste and a Crafters Workshop chicken wire stencil.  Next I added in my very favorite blue soft body acrylic and magenta gouache paints.
To create layers, I added painted chipboard, an ink stained/doodled/stamped banner and some roses fussy cut from the Manor House flower packaging.
When I saw the beautiful Banana Boat paper by The ScrapCake in my kit, I immediately thought the grouping of circles looked like clouds.  So I fussy cut them out and added a couple here and there.  I feel like my head is always lost in the clouds day dreaming so I wanted to add them to symbolize the dreamer in me.
I tucked in some hidden journaling for my family using the ScrapFX tags from my Zeus and Zoe kit.  I colored them with various Dylusions inks and doodled around the edges.
To bring my design to life, I mixed beautiful vibrant flowers by Manor House, Prima, Recollections and my stash.  Since part of the challenge is to incorporate buttons, I added some of the gorgeous buttons from my kit to the big beautiful Manor Hour flower and then tucked in here and there.
I mixed in a couple of crocheted dollies, beautiful charms and stick pins from Zeus and Zoe kit.  I also created flourishes and loops with some jute twine and added a Prima light bulb from the Junkyard Findings line.
Here's a closer look at some of the layering, stenciling and paint.
Well friends, I hope I've inspired you play along with us.  This really is a great opportunity to have a little fun and express yourself through the colors of your soul.  So I encourage you to turn the camera over to someone else, take some pics and start creating!!  If you'd like some of the gorgeous items I used from Zeus and Zoe, just visit the online store.   Marivic can also put together a custom kit just for you, all you have to do is let her know what you're looking for or what your creative style is and she'll work her magic.
Thanks again for stopping by and Have a Beautiful Inspired Day!!
