Now is the time - fall

Happy Monday!
Fall is in full swing in our part of the world, that means you will see it at least in few of my upcoming projects
Here's my first fall-theme layout of this season.

From my stash I have picked a neutral light paper for my background (Dreamer from 7 Dots Studio) and I have complemented it with the items from my Zeus and Zoe kit.
You will see few scraps of papers, authentic old newspaper, washi tape and cotton lace. In my kit I also had this sweet flower vine (Prima) and a flower pack from Manor house - these I saved for another project, but the packaging came handy! The beautiful brown roses are cut out from this package :) Finally a golden button instead of a brad and some Prima chipboards to add dimension. Zeus and Zoe kits contain such a variation of items, you can do so much with it!

Thanks for stopping by today, wishing you a great week! Don't forget to have a look at Zeus and Zoe Etsy store.

Get Lost Somewhere with Dana

Hi! Dana here today sharing a fall-themed layout. The gorgeous hues of orange and red foliage is one of my favorite things about the Autumn season. I've been following the restoration of the Chateau de Gudanes, a castle in the south of France, and this is just one of the stunning photos of this gorgeous historic monument.

I've used 7 Dots Studio patterned paper and stickers from my Zeus and Zoe Kit to build up the layers under the photo. I'd love to get lost exploring the grounds and rooms of this castle!

I've tucked several vintage postcards under the photo. I loved the gorgeous bouquet of flowers on this card and the script on the other. Both of these cards are embossed, which really adds some great dimension to my page.

I created a small embellishment cluster on the right-hand side of the page to help balance the design.

Thanks for stopping by today! Please check out the Zeus and Zoe social media sites for more inspiration. If you'd like to pick up a one-of-a-kind Zeus and Zoe Kit for yourself, stop by the Zeus and Zoe Etsy Shop or email Marivic Clifton for a personal order.

Young at Heart Layout by Jen Waugh

Hi everyone, Jen here again with my second project for October. I realised that I hadn't done a layout during my term so decided that with Halloween just around the corner, I would do bit of a "dark" project. The colours are still within the Zeus and Zoe October "Steamchic" theme for this month.

I used the Polish paper manufacturer UHK Designs on my layout and the collection is My Dear Watson.

I added some lace and vintage buttons from my DT pack, I loved how the buttons complimented my colour scheme.

I loved this industrial chic metal charm from my pack and knew it would look great on my layout. The flower is from Manor House Creations and was included in my pack.

To get the textured effect, I used a Kaiser Craft mask with some texture paste. I sprayed with Tattered Angels mist in Sand Beige. Once that was dry I accentuated some of the masking with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tea Dye. I also used this to ink my distressed edges.

I heat embossed my 2 Crafty Chipboard with black embossing powder to get the metallic effect. The title sticker is from Prima.

Thanks for joining me in my last post for October. Have a safe and enjoyable Halloween weekend. See you all next month.

P.S The young girl in the photo is in fact me taken during my "goth" phase in the late 80's ;-)

Always Be Different Canvas - Jen Waugh

Hi everyone, Jen here with my first project of October. Our theme this month is "Steam Chic", a combination of Steam Punk and Shabby Chic devised by Charlie. We had a specific mood board to work with and I loved working with the colours on it.

I have been wanting to use this photo of my daughter for some time and this theme just seemed to fit in with it perfectly. My daughter is a Photography student in Scotland and they had a Steam Punk  photo session with the make up department. I love the fact that my daughter takes after me in that she doesn't follow trends, she just goes with her individuality.

So here we have my canvas. "Always Be Different"

I covered my canvas with a layer of tissue paper, then used various mists to get the different colours in the mood board. I used a combination of Tattered Angels and Ranger.

All the laces, flowers and the majority of the trinkets were included in in my DT pack and are available in the Zeus and Zoe Etsy store. The key and key hole are Tim Holtz and there are some Prima (Finnabair) Mechanicals cogs.

After I added all my trinkets, lace, chip board, flowers, mesh and other embellishments I used Luminarte Twinkling H20's  to paint them. I finished the canvas off with a layer of Gel Medium.

I hope you like my canvas and remember "Always Be Different". It now takes pride of place on my daughter's lounge room wall in Scotland.  I will be back on October 31st when I will be sharing a spooktacular blast from my past.

Fabric Journal by Jen Waugh

Meet our new Design Team Member:

Australia

My name is Jen Waugh, I am a married mum of 4 beautiful children, ranging in ages from 4 - 23. I have lived in Perth, Australia for 2 years and am originally from Scotland. I discovered scrap booking in January 2012 and my Creative Journey began. My style is very diverse, ranging from shabby chic/vintage to Steam punk. I love learning new techniques and incorporating mixed media into my work. My big passion is altered art. I am at my happiest sourcing treasures from charity shops and flea markets and changing them from what others would regard as rubbish into beautiful pieces of art.

I am honored to be part of the Zeus and Zoe design team.I love Marivic's kits, laces and unusual finds. I can't wait to share my creations with you all.

Hi everyone, Jen here and welcome to my first post as Design Team member for Zeus and Zoe. I am so excited to be part of such a talented group of designers and to work with such gorgeous products.

I was in Heaven when I got my pack from Marivic, filled with so many beautiful fabrics, lace and goodies. I decided to create a little fabric journal for my first project.

I had a lot of fun creating my first project for Zeus and Zoe.  You can find a full range of beautiful, vintage and intricate items in the Zeus and Zoe shopMarivic creates such beautiful kits made personally to suit your own taste.  Don't hesitate to contact Marivic with any questions and ordering information, she is only too happy to help you make product choices.

Gift Box

Hi Everyone

Welcome to a new month!  Isn't this year just flying and the months passing in a flash! July already, before we can blink we need to be making Christmas cards! ;-)

Denise here to share a gift box with you today. It was a little box that I altered and one which I hope to use shortly.

I covered my box with beautiful papers from my Zeus and Zoe Kit, and then added a punched trim around the lid. I added some gorgeous May Arts Trim around the middle, and then went to work on the lid itself. I first painted a Design Worx chipboard and stuck that down, and then added all the little goodies on top.

I always think that a gift is really so very special, when you can give it in a special packaging, and really made it look awesome.

Please check out the Zeus and Zoe Etsy shop for these wonderful goodies.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and having a look.
Have a super day!
Denise

Layout and Card

Hello Everyone

Happy Friday! I am sure that you are looking forward to the weekend, as much as I am! Roll on weekend!

I hope you have been checking all the wonderful projects for May. There has really been some super inspiration from the DT.

Denise here today, I have a page and a card to share with you. Let's start with my layout.

This page is about me and only "Denise".  This is not about me the mother of Joe, or the wife to Johann, this is just about me! Sometimes I have to remind myself that there is a Denise and not just a mother and wife, and that Denise needs to exist also. So this page is to remind me to care for myself too, because if I don't nurture myself, then I will almost certainly just fade away! Do you sometimes feel like that too?

I used the beautiful trim from May Arts, it really is so versatile.

I really experimented with my background and first applied a thin layer of gesso. Then I stuck down some of the wonderful oldsie pages from the Zeus and Zoe kit, and then spritzed with 3 different colours over it. On top of that I threw course salt and allowed it all to dry.  Once dry, I removed all the salt and was left with a wonderful palette to work with. Maybe give this a try sometime...

For my second little project, I created a card using Couture Creations.

I used an embossing folder as well as a diecut. Here is a close-up for good measure.

Thanks for joining me today and don't forget to enter the May Challenge for your chance to win prizes from May Arts and Couture Creations!

Have a great Friday and weekend!!

Happy Birthday Beautiful - May Challenge

Happy Saturday Everyone!  Norma here to share my May challenge layout inspired by Riikka's gorgeous mood board.  Here is the LINK to the challenge in case you wanna take a look at the mood board and check out the fabulous prizes that this month's sponsors May Arts and Couture Creations are giving away.

My sweet little grand daughter just turned one and when I saw Riikka's board, I knew these pics of her birthday would be perfect.  I stayed with the soft pinks mixed with white and a tiny punch of fuchsia.  (Come on, you know I just couldn't resist adding a bright bold color, lol).

The base of layout is pink Bazzill, then a distressed layer of My Mind's Eye Lost & Found and on top of that is a piece of 7 Dots Studio, Love Me Hopefully from my Zeus and Zoe kit.  The 7 Dots paper had really cute medallions on it so I cut all of them out to use as embellishments.  I punched the top and bottom with a Martha Stewart scallop punch.  Next I stenciled some dots here and there with gesso and gave the edges a light white wash.

To matte my photo, I used some of the Paper Reflections accordion tags and a vintage handwritten letter.    Then I layered the circles that I cut out and a couple of the beautiful vintage crotchet trims from my Zeus and Zoe kit.

I painted over some of the gold buttons and the Prima Ruby Violet flowers to tone them down to match my layout.

I added a bow on her giant cupcake cake using some May Arts ribbon.

To finish off my layout, I added my usual doodling around the edges.  I just really like the idea of framing my projects and doodling does the trick for me.

Thanks so much for joining me today, I hope I've inspired you to play along with our May Challenge!

HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!

40, It's Just A Number - April Challenge

Hello & Thanks so much for joining me today for an extra special layout!  Why is it extra special you ask, well because it's about me (heheheehe).  This month we have a REALLY fun challenge for you to play along with!!  We are challenging you to create a project with you front and center.  That's right, the theme is "Life As It Is Now" (for you).  So I hope you're up for the challenge because I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you better.  The only requirement you have is to mix some buttons into your design, easy peasy right!

Ah...but wait, there's more!!!!

To sweeten the deal, one lucky participant will be chosen by the design team and will win this fabulous prize pack sponsored by the Zeus and Zoe Esty Shop plus full bragging rights!!

Isn't that a sweet prize pack?!  (Sorry Macaroons not included, lol)  This generous kit includes:
a package of flowers, stick pins, buttons, ephemera items, a La Blanche Stamp, Washi tapes and a package of Magicals from Lindy Stamp Gang

AND

A random participant will also be chosen to win these beautiful ribbons from May Arts:

Okay so I know what your thinking, where is this extra special layout right?!  LOL, ready.........here it is!!

Tada!!  As you can tell, I'm having so much fun with this month's challenge (see you should join so you can have fun too, lol).  I rarely scrap about myself or even take pics of myself for that matter.  I always joke that my family is gonna look back and think I was never there.  That's the big problem with being the family paparazzo, right!  Well, for this layout I turned the camera over to my youngest son and had a mini photo shoot.  Luckily I found one that would work out of the gazillon he took, lol.

I knew I wanted my focus to be on turning 40 because I reached my milestone birthday yesterday.  So that's the inspiration for my title and I wanted the layout to reflect my very favorite design elements and colors.  So with that in mind, I began working on my design.

My background paper is called Cupids Arrow from Kaisercraft's Sweet Nothings Collection and I added texture with molding paste and a Crafters Workshop chicken wire stencil.  Next I added in my very favorite blue soft body acrylic and magenta gouache paints.

To create layers, I added painted chipboard, an ink stained/doodled/stamped banner and some roses fussy cut from the Manor House flower packaging.

When I saw the beautiful Banana Boat paper by The ScrapCake in my kit, I immediately thought the grouping of circles looked like clouds.  So I fussy cut them out and added a couple here and there.  I feel like my head is always lost in the clouds day dreaming so I wanted to add them to symbolize the dreamer in me.

I tucked in some hidden journaling for my family using the ScrapFX tags from my Zeus and Zoe kit.  I colored them with various Dylusions inks and doodled around the edges.

To bring my design to life, I mixed beautiful vibrant flowers by Manor House, Prima, Recollections and my stash.  Since part of the challenge is to incorporate buttons, I added some of the gorgeous buttons from my kit to the big beautiful Manor Hour flower and then tucked in here and there.

I mixed in a couple of crocheted dollies, beautiful charms and stick pins from Zeus and Zoe kit.  I also created flourishes and loops with some jute twine and added a Prima light bulb from the Junkyard Findings line.

Here's a closer look at some of the layering, stenciling and paint.

Well friends, I hope I've inspired you play along with us.  This really is a great opportunity to have a little fun and express yourself through the colors of your soul.  So I encourage you to turn the camera over to someone else, take some pics and start creating!!  If you'd like some of the gorgeous items I used from Zeus and Zoe, just visit the online store.   Marivic can also put together a custom kit just for you, all you have to do is let her know what you're looking for or what your creative style is and she'll work her magic.
