Bellaidea Guest DT for June

Welcome to one of our Guest Designers this month..

My name is Agnieszka but in the scrapbooking world I go by Bellaidea.
Together with my husband - I'm still dating him - we're taking care of our two treasures - a girl and a boy.

I love traveling, taking photos, oranges and African bush aroma, , old books, pictures and houses, doilies, trips with friends to Italy, evenings by the fireplace, mystery perfumes, reading books to my children (even though they can read by themselves), audiobooks during long distance drives, praising people for their talent and creativity and meeting with other nice ladies for a cup of coffee.

My favorite place to spend great time is Kruger Park and Zimbali in South Africa.
I scrapbook for many reasons- to preserve memories, to make my kids remember I always care about them, to have MY time when I need it, to keep in touch with all my scrap-friend all over the world. My style is ecletic , part of romantic, touch of whimsy, influenced by mixed media a lot. You will find on my projects; lace, chipboards, doilies, torned corners, fussy cutting, etc.. but I never forget the most important is the photo and a story. Sometimes I hide my journaling when it`s very personal...

Last couple of years I had a pleasure to design for many blog challenges and producers like Scrap FX, Berry 71 Bleu, Scraps of Elegance, 13 arts, studio 75,  Papercraft Scandinavia and Magenta .

I cordially invite you to my blog, where you can find out what I'm doing at late night when my family members are sleeping: Bellaideascrapology

I used Donna Salazar papers and stickers, love those colors!
I added couple flowers from Inkido and fantastic chipboards from Scrapiniec.
Thank you again!

My Favourite Things Canvas

Denise and Norma, from the Zeus and Zoe DT are hosting this months challenge.  The theme is based on the song 'My Favourite Things', by Julie Andrews.  I must admit, I was singing that song over and over in my head after Norma and Denise came up with the theme!!!  You can find all details below this post, and the wonderful prizes that are on offer.

I created a 6" X 6" canvas, using papers of various types and die-cut shapes by Donna Salazar Designs, and incorporated some gorgeous elements from my Zeus and Zoe DT kit - including: Lace, Charms, Necklace Pieces, Pearls, Buttons, Flowers and more.  You can find all the kit goodies for Zeus and Zoe 'HERE'.

I also included journaling on the reverse side listing all of my favourite things, which include, but not limited too....
Rainbows - hence the colour in my canvas
Creativity - scissors, papers
Pearls - Old Necklace
Buttons - oh so many, my collection is huge
Trinkets - Eeep, I'd hate to say how many of these favourite things I have.
Butterflies - a huge favourite
Keys - I have a fascination for them, I have no idea why
Lace - I have been collecting since I was very young
Gold - I should be really rich LOL
Cats -  My best friends for life....

There are many items I did not add :-)
I had to give the cats some new 'bling' eyes....so cute!
The canvas has some of the gorgeous Donna Salaza Designs textured and plain papers, all ripped and mod- podged into place.
The colouring was completed using Gesso, Starburst Sprays, and a touch of Gold Shimmer Stick, then lightly sprayed with a sealer to protect.
I gathered some of 'My Favourite Things', and got to work in adhering to the canvas.
My inspiration for this project is from Arlene, From Butterfly Kisses.
I will be back later in the month with another creation to share,
till then, hope to see you join in the challenge...
Sandie

How to pretty up your drinks by NellieBellie...

Hello!! Janel from NellieBellie and I'm so pleased to be here! This month's theme is all about favorite things and this was an easy one! Summer is almost here and with summer comes time in the sun barbecuing, swimming, and drinking fun drinks. All of those are some of my favorite things. But, the one thing I look forward to the most is pretty drinks in pretty cups on pretty days. So, today's project is... diy-drink-umbrella   Don't little drink umbrella's make you happy? They make me smile! And I swear my drinks taste that much better! To make these cute little umbrella's all you need are some of the fabulous paper from Zeus and Zoe...I'm not kidding, that paper is sooo cute! You will also need some wooden skewers and a hot glue gun. That's it! I also added a bit of garland to the very tops (a great way to use up those leftover Christmas decorations!) for added fun. diy-drink-umbrella-collage
To make these cute little umbrellas cut circles out of the fabulous paper, cut a slit into the circle so that you can shape the umbrella, and attach your umbrella to a wooden skewer (I cut mine in half) with hot glue. Ta-da!! Now your drinks will look as fabulous as they taste! For a more complete tutorial pop over to NellieBellie and visit me!

Favorite Quotes Album

Thanks for stopping by today! Dana here sharing a mini album for the Zeus and Zoe June Challenge. This month's challenge is inspired by the lyrics of the Julie Andrews song "My Favorite Things." We all have those favorite little things that we just can't help gravitating to and maybe even collecting. So this month the Zeus and Zoe Team wants to see projects highlighting YOUR very favorite things. I took this opportunity to assemble some of my favorite quotes from my favorite novels. My vintage ladies are back along with words from Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Mary Shelley, Virginia Woolf, Jodi Picoult and Leo Tolstoy.

Donna Salazar is the sponsor this month and this album features her gorgeous Natural Beauty collection. I used several shades of Mix'd Media Inx to add color to these chipboard letters.

I made this small charm with a facet, some Glossy Accents and a piece of dictionary paper from the Mix'd Media Stax.

I sprayed these flowers with Clearsnap Smooch Spritz and covered them with a coat of Fairy Dust Glitter for some extra sparkle.

The inside pages of this album are variations on the same theme; gorgeous Natural Beauty patterned papers and embellishments, May Arts Ribbon, Couture Creations dies and the fabulous vintage ladies that I love so much from my Zeus and Zoe Kit. Sprinkled throughout the album is some random stamping and bits and pieces from some of Donna's other paper collections.

All the text for this album was created by running strips of label paper from the Mix'd Media Stax through my Dymo label maker. The adhesive backing of the label paper made adding text to this album fast and easy. I highlighted the embossed letters with Mix'd Media Inx.

The quotes are hard to read from the photos so here they are:

"You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. I have loved none but you." - Jane Austen

"He is more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same." - Emily Bronte

"I loved him very much. More than I could trust myself to say. More than words had power to express." - Charlotte Bronte

"Beware. I am fearless and therefore powerful." - Mary Shelley

"If you meet a loner. No matter what they tell you. It's not because they enjoy solitude. It's because they have tried to blend into the world before and people continue to disappoint them." - Jodi Picoult

"No need to hurry. No need to sparkle. No need to be anybody but oneself," - Virginia Woolf

"Not one word. Not one gesture of yours shall I, could I, ever forget." - Leo Tolstoy

We hope that you will enter the June Challenge.  There are some fabulous prizes up for grabs, one of which is autographed by Donna Salazar!  How cool is that?!

June Challenge - My Favourite Things

Hello Everyone!

Denise and Norma here to bring you the June Challenge!!  This month's challenge is inspired by the lyrics of Julie Andrews song " My Favorite Things"

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things!

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things!

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eye lashes
Silver white winters that melt into spring
These are a few of my favorite things!

When the dog bites, when the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember
my favorite things
and then I don't feel so bad!

We all have those favorite little things that we just can't help gravitating to and maybe even collecting.  So this month we want to see projects highlighting YOUR very favorite things and to kick things off, we've put together a couple of boards to share the things that we love!

For me (Denise) personally, my favourite things that come to mind are: my shoes, my morning cup of coffee, my flowers in the garden, comfort winter food eg. soup or a beautifully decadent cupcake. So here is my board for some inspiration.

Now anybody that really knows me, really knows that I have quite a shoe collection! ;-) I love a beautiful pair of shoes and my Dad asks me regularly if I am wearing a new pair! So my layout had to simply be about this little love of mine. The sentiment I chose specifically because it is absolutely spot on! ;-)

So here is my page for this challenge.

I used the wonderful papers by Donna Salazar, the die-cuts, as well as the chipboard alpha's. I did some gesso stencilling on the background and also added texture to Scrap FX chipboards with Kwik crackle.

Aren't these shoes just to die for?!

Norma also here to share some of my little obsessions with you, lol.  I absolutely  love everything on my board with my top pick being the beach.  The beach photo on my board is my family's favorite summer getaway here in beautiful Texas.  I added pics of bracelets, lanterns, storage crates and pink orchids because I collect all of these things.  I love, love, love orchids and have them all over my home but they have to be pink (you know how I love color, lol).  I'm also obsessed with storage containers and lanterns.  They're all over my home too.  Oh and bracelets, don't even get me started!  The funny thing is that I tend to always buy them in beautiful shades of turquoise, browns and silver just like in the photo.  One of my other loves is architecture and design, I enjoy taking photos of old buildings with loads of character like gorgeous detailed doors and worn wrought iron and you know my board would not be complete without my paint brushes.  They transport me to my happy place!

Since my all time favorite thing is the beach, I thought I'd do an ocean inspired project.  I also wanted to do my favorite kind of project (mixed media) and use my favorite blue/green colors.  So this is what I came up with:

Ever since I was a little girl, I've loved painting and been completely mesmerized by the sea.  I looked forward to Saturday mornings so I could watch two of my favorite shows on public television: The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross and The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau.  So my goal was bring those two worlds together in this piece.

I began by applying molding paste, patterned papers from my Zeus and Zoe kit and swirls with a 3-D writer.  Once that was dry, I added layers of paint in my favorite shades of blue and began building my cluster of  treasure that I'm sure my mermaid has been collecting for some time ;D.  Most of the found objects I used are from my Zeus and Zoe kit but a few are from my stash of goodness.  Next I applied a layer of gesso over all the little bits.  Once the gesso was dry, I spritzed various colors of Dylusions sprinkled with blue/green PearlEx for shimmer.

I love including a positive message in my artwork so I chose to use, "You can never cross the ocean unless you have the COURAGE to lose sight of the shore".  I truly love the way this project turned out and I hope I've inspired you today.

Now it's your turn!! We would love to see your interpretation of this month's challenge "My Favorite Things"! Whether it's a project using your "favorite" materials or it's about your "favorite" things; if you love it and it's your "favorite" share it!!

This month we are fortunate to have the talented Donna Salazar sharing her wonderful products with us as well as Couture Creations. Each has sent a beautiful assortment of items for our challenge winners.

The Main Prize is sponsored by: Donna Salazar, http://donnasalazar.typepad.com/, and she even autographed it!  How cool is that!!
