How to pretty up your drinks by NellieBellie...

Hello!! Janel from NellieBellie and I'm so pleased to be here! This month's theme is all about favorite things and this was an easy one! Summer is almost here and with summer comes time in the sun barbecuing, swimming, and drinking fun drinks. All of those are some of my favorite things. But, the one thing I look forward to the most is pretty drinks in pretty cups on pretty days. So, today's project is... diy-drink-umbrella   Don't little drink umbrella's make you happy? They make me smile! And I swear my drinks taste that much better! To make these cute little umbrella's all you need are some of the fabulous paper from Zeus and Zoe...I'm not kidding, that paper is sooo cute! You will also need some wooden skewers and a hot glue gun. That's it! I also added a bit of garland to the very tops (a great way to use up those leftover Christmas decorations!) for added fun. diy-drink-umbrella-collage
To make these cute little umbrellas cut circles out of the fabulous paper, cut a slit into the circle so that you can shape the umbrella, and attach your umbrella to a wooden skewer (I cut mine in half) with hot glue. Ta-da!! Now your drinks will look as fabulous as they taste! For a more complete tutorial pop over to NellieBellie and visit me!

Janel's Make-up Bag

Hello!!! I’m Janel from NellieBellie and I am so pleased to be here again! Today I want to share with you this quick way to make a fabulous make-up bag with Mod Podge, fabric, and fabulous trimmings from Zeus and Zoe!

makeup-bag2

This cute bag started out as a plain, boring makeup bag that came with some samples I had gotten. I have a mess of these basic little make-up bags. When I was gathering them to toss out I paused and realized…these can be turned into something great! So, after Mod Podging some fabulous zebra shirt fabric patches onto the plain ol’ bag I added some fabulous lace and velvet trim from Zeus and Zoe and beautiful turquoise feathers to give the bag some additional jazz and fun. Now this plain, generic make-up bag is something to show off and be proud of. Best part is you can personalize the fabric and trim to your personal taste. The mood board for May was feminine, pink, lacy, and full of girl appeal. This DIY Makeup bag is feminine, pink, lacy, and full of girl appeal…score! You all have a great day…I’m off to fill my new make-up bag with goodies!

Be sure to stop by and say hi!

Wouldn’t this be such a sweet little box to give to someone? Or just keep for yourself. An herb garden in a box. There is something about having fresh herbs right outside my kitchen door that makes me feel so happy. And, this little box lets me give that feeling to someone else easily and inexpensively. What a great way to start Spring!! Get these little herb plants started and let your friend plant them when the ground is ready! I made the box from a cardboard box easily found at a craft store. I used DecoArt’s stencil and paints to give the box a wonderful spring pattern that is fun and whimsical. Wood circles are attached and more DecoArt paint is used to write “Herb Garden in a Box” on them. (The same wood circles and paint make cute plant id’s inside the box.) A fabulous decorative flower from Zeus and Zoe embellishes the front of the box. And cute little flowers from Zeus and Zoe(jazzed up with DecoArt paint) are embellishments for the wood circles on top. To create the “garden” fill plastic cups (cut to size) with potting soil. I set the cut cups into the tops that were cut off (flipped upside down) for added stability. Plant a seed or two in each cup, water, and add the plant tag on top. Include fun accessories like a trowel, more seeds, and an embellishment (this butterfly is also from Zeus and Zoe and is so sweet!). Now let your friend know that the seeds are live and ready for them to care for and see their faces light up with delight when you give them this gift!!
