Upcycled tea tin by Yvonne Yam

Hello there! It's Yvonne here to share my creative project. I'm a huge tea drinker and have amassed a collection of tea tins. They make excellent gift "wraps".

Just adhere some patterned paper and fussy-cut some portions for texture and interest (I added glossy accent for dimension), then embellish with pearls, a pretty bloom and button. Everything can be found at the Zeus and Zoe store. :)

My name is Jen Waugh, I am a married mum of 4 beautiful children, ranging in ages from 4 - 23. I have lived in Perth, Australia for 2 years and am originally from Scotland. I discovered scrap booking in January 2012 and my Creative Journey began. My style is very diverse, ranging from shabby chic/vintage to Steam punk. I love learning new techniques and incorporating mixed media into my work. My big passion is altered art. I am at my happiest sourcing treasures from charity shops and flea markets and changing them from what others would regard as rubbish into beautiful pieces of art. 

I am honored to be part of the Zeus and Zoe design team.I love Marivic's kits, laces and unusual finds. I can't wait to share my creations with you all.

Hi everyone, Jen here and welcome to my first post as Design Team member for Zeus and Zoe. I am so excited to be part of such a talented group of designers and to work with such gorgeous products.

 I was in Heaven when I got my pack from Marivic, filled with so many beautiful fabrics, lace and goodies. I decided to create a little fabric journal for my first project.

Hello everyone! My name is Aida Domisiewicz aka Ayeeda. I live in a beautiful city of Wroclaw, Poland with my husband and two wonderful sons - 9 and 4 years old.

I think I've always had an artistic soul, I used to paint the ceramics, create my own pots and bowls with a clay and made different home decorations. I was working full time , but I have always had some kind of a hobby. When I discovered scrapbooking and mixed media I just forgot about everything, it was the love from the first sight:)

I create mostly layouts now, and this my favorite space: 12x12 inch. Sometimes I create something different though - tags, cards, altered items, why not?  I’m not sure I can define my “style”, but my works are recognizable as a bit messy with lots of different media, layers and details. I just love the texture, I want to feel my page under my fingers. I don’t want to close myself in just one “style” though,  as I love to experiment and search for original effects. For me each page is a separate, complete story to tell, so my pages differ with colors, techniques and … emotions.. The perfect layout for me is the one which makes people feel the emotions closed on the page.

I just love to create, but I have always dreamed that my passion is becoming also my work. Few months ago I started to design papers and to produce my own media and other artistic supplies with my own brand 13 arts. This is a dream come true.

Hello everyone! 

This is Aida with my very first post and very first work as Zeus and Zoe DT member. 

When I saw all the beautiful papers, laces and embellishments from Marivic's Etsy Shop  I was amazed - all things were so gorgeous, that I started to create my project straight away. I couldn't help myself and I made a layout for my first post, so here it is - a little different than my usual pages, but when you've got such beautiful elements you don't have to add a lot of media and other materials. I played with hot glue this time, added some gesso, crackle paint and brocade.

A mixed media canvas with a gorgeous vintage tag...by Yvonne Yam

Hello there! It's Yvonne here to show you my mixed media canvas using a gorgeous tag that Marivic made. 

Yep, sometimes I like to "cheat" a little by using a beautifully assembled vintage tag on my canvas. It is available for sale at Berry71Bleu. :)

The 8x8 canvas was covered with wrapping tissue and lace from the Zeus and Zoe store. Then I gessoed the piece and misted with Lindy's Gang spray mists for a subtle colour. After that, I played with some gold paints and mediums and glued more yummy embellishments from the Zeus and Zoe store to match the beautiful tag.

I love how my canvas turned out. What do you think?

Hello all 

I am Patricia Basson from sunny South Africa! Most of the time any ways...we are having our winter season at the moment resulting in cosy days spend inside crafting! I am a mother of three crown up children, some furry cat and dog 'children' and a very understanding husband, understanding in the sense that he knows best to not complain when Dinner is late because I am caught up in my crafts room! I have been Scrap booking since about 2007 with the past three years really getting into the arty side of it. I haven't got a style per se, but love to layer and distress and getting a little into the mixed media frenzy as well. I also love making cards and have dabbled in the altering side as well. Loving to use flowers and embellishments makes me very excited and privileged to be chosen to be on Zeus and Zoe's Design Team, and I am hoping that something of what I do will be an inspiration to some one else!

I am currently on the Design Teams of Imaginarium Designs, Scrap Africa and will also be designing for Tanya Leigh Designz...

Thank you once again to Marivic for including me in her team and I am looking forwards to work alongside my talented fellow team mates.

 Good Morning Zeus and Zoe friends. Yeah! At last the day has come that I can post my first project as a new Design Team member!!! I am feeling very privileged that Marivic has accepted my application and I now get to create with lots of goodness from her Etsy Shop and I hope I will be able to inspire you to try some new ideas and techniques.

I have altered an ordinary black hard cover text book and might be giving it as a present or decide to keep it myself.  After priming it with Gesso, I layered some patterned papers, tissue tape and some lace trim onto it. I gave it another thin coating of Gesso and once it was dry, misted it with Clam Bake Beige mist from Lindy's Stampgang.

I added texture paste that I stamped whilst it was still wet. Also added some micro beads and some stencilling with a Crafters Workshop Template. More misting with Glory of the Seas Gold and Wild Honeysuckle Coral.

The backside of the book was also treated. The brown lace is from my DT stash that Marivic has send me.

The centre piece is this beautiful flower...although this is not what it looked like when I got it...I will post a photo at the end of the post in order for you to see that one can alter anything to suit ones style and personality! It was a purple and blue metal flower, but I Gesso'd it and sprayed several layers of  Cockle bells Coral and Violaceous Violet onto it, drying between layers with my heat gun. The canvas circle behind it, the metal leaves and the buttons are all from my DT stash. The metal leaves were just heated and whilst hot, some Stampendous aged Taupe embossing powder was added and heat set.

As with the flower, the buttons were also Gesso'd and misted and some embroidery thread added.

Altered Balsa Gift Box

Our first Design Team Member to show you their project this month is

Hello :) my name is Leticia Mercado and I have been married for almost 10 years in September to my Husband Enrique and we have 3 kiddos that God has blessed us with my oldest is 9, than I have a 8 year old and my youngest who is 5. My family is my inspiration  to crafting, I love to create layouts to display our most memorable time together, I also enjoy to alter just about everything I can get in my hands and proudly display them in my home. I Love to make cards for Family and Friends during the holidays and birthdays and for every special occasion, I also love to work with fabric, it is so much fun to make flowers and to alter boxes and include fabric into my projects. I hope you can find inspiration in my work and enjoy it as well, for me it is such an honor to be part of this Design Team and I am sure I will have so much fun along side every one on the sign team.  I am so happy to be here and be a part of this amazing, crazy, talented Design Team! It was so much fun to play with all the wonderful goodies and create my first DT project for you all. Here is a picture for you all to see all the materials you will need to create this Beautiful balsa gift box.

Lindystampgang Starburst Color Shot (Golden Lump O' Coal), Balsa Box, Vintage Music Sheets (2), Mod Podge, Vintage Trim, Make-Up Sponge, Manor House Burlap Rose ( Prior Rose-Vanilla), Vintage Photo Distressing Ink, and a Vintage Pendant or Earing.

I adhered the Vintage Music Sheets with mod podge all around the box and set it aside to dry, once dry I distressed the edges with Vintage photo distressing ink, than with a make up sponge dipped in the starburst color shot, I softly painted over the box.

I adhered the vintage trim on top of the box with glossy accents and also the metal swirl and the burlap flower with the pendant in the center, if you do use glossy accents to adhere your embellishment make sure you add a little dab of hot glue to hold your embellishments in place while the glossy accents dries. I also added tiny metal corners to the front and back of the box that I cut from a metal embellishment to tie everything together.

I love how simple and yet Beautiful this box came out! Hope you all have enjoyed this tutorial and Thank you for stopping by :)
